I prefer to work in Microsoft Access and have found it to be the superior tool for working with large amounts of data. Even small amounts of data, for that matter. With Access, I find most all general office administrative tasks can be automated or enhanced in some way. Excel is a great tool, and I believe it has its place, but I also find many office environments relying far too heavily on Excel as it is typically viewed as the Swiss army knife of applications. It's true, and it may very well be enough, but upon closer examination, I find many tasks can be performed much more efficiently and as importantly, pleasantly, in Access.
